Candles are good because they:

The ancient Egyptians were likely the first set of people to use candles. They used rushlights and torches soaked in melted animal fat and had no wick. The oldest surviving candles, however, are from 200BC and originated in Han China. 

Candles made from soy wax usually last longer than paraffin wax. A soy candle can burn for twice as long as candles made from paraffin wax.  

Scented candles might be bad for people with some chemical and fragrance sensitivity issues or asthma. Asides from that, NCA says candles are generally safe whether they are made from beeswax, paraffin wax, soy wax, or palm wax. 

A scented candle is a type of candle made from mixing wax and fragrant oils, which lets out a nice aroma when it is burning.

Candles are safe. The toxic products from burning the wax are usually too low to raise health concerns. People sensitive to scents and asthmatics might have problems with the fragrance, though.

Some candles burn faster than the others because their candles have a lower melting point – paraffin, for example. Beeswax burns slowest. 

Some suggest candles made with paraffin wax might not be best for dogs and other pets. Lead wicks and synthetic coils are not really around anymore, but they are bad candles for dogs, cats, other pets. Candles made from plant-based waxes like soy wax and coconut wax with cotton wicks are better recommended.

Stick the birthday candles into the cake – deep enough to not fall off, but no too deep. About 5 mm is usually enough, Spread out the candles evenly on the cake. Ensure the candles are on a level surface to make sure the candles to not burn to one side or topple. Light the candles when it is about time. After blowing out the candles, ensure the flames are completely out before removing the candles.
